Installing Personal Tax Manager For Existing Users
Prior to installation
- Make sure you have a full backup of the PTM database (we cannot accept any responsibility for our customer’s data)
- Please note the previous installation path
- To install software on a Windows computer, you must have administrative rights over that computer
- Administrator status can be granted as Local administrator - on a single computer, or a computer in a workgroup - or as Domain administrator - over all the computers in a domain
The installation process on a network system has to be performed in two parts - firstly, the installation of the programs and creation of the new database. This takes place while sitting in front of the server. Secondly, Personal Tax Manager needs to be configured to run over the network. This takes place on the workstations.
Updating to Personal Tax Manager 2009/10
If the Taxshield DVD is already in the drive and it fails to auto load, go to start; Run and type E:\ PTM2010.exe (where E:\ is the DVD drive on your PC/Server).
You are now shown the PTM pre install notes. Choose next to continue.
Now select Desktop or Network as the installation type then choose next to continue.
You will now need to agree to the license to continue the installation. Choose next after accepting the terms.
The Personal Tax Manager Install process knows where the relevant PTM program and files are stored. Please accept the suggested location.
The installation will now commence.
When the files have finished installing you will be prompted to run the Personal Tax Manager software. Click finish to exit install.
